Box Score

Auburndale, Fla. – The University of Findlay baseball team flexed their offensive muscle on the final day in Florida on Friday, March 6. Findlay outscored Northern State University 14-2 in a game that ended in eight innings due to the mercy rule. With the win, the Oilers head north with a 5-6 record while the Wolves remain winless at 0-8.

The Oilers began the top of the first inning with consecutive singles by sophomore Christian Orr, senior Casey Gould, freshman Cam Farrar, and senior Austin Rawlins. By inning's end, Findlay had tallied six hits and scored six runs, three of which came on a three-run, opposite field home run by sophomore Brandon Emery, the first home run of his career.

Findlay's offense went silent over the next five innings as they were able to pick up just three hits in that span.

On the hill, sophomore Ryan Mohr was dealing, allowing just two hits over the first four innings of work. The Wolves finally cracked the scoreboard with a run in the fifth when a runner scored from third on a strikeout with a wild pitch.

Another run in the sixth for Northern State trimmed the Oilers' lead to 6-2.

In the seventh inning, Orr led off with a double and was driven in with a double from Farrar. Later, with two outs, junior Ryan Johnson, senior Jordan Williams, and Emery all recorded RBI singles to extend Findlay's lead to 10-2.

The Oilers scored four more runs in the eighth inning on the strength of four hits. Senior Casey Gould had a one-out double in the inning and was driven in by senior Sam Shelt Palm. Junior Ryan O'Malley singled to plate Shelt Palm and Emery, who finished with four hits on the day, singled to score Ryan Johnson, who reached base on a hit by pitch.

Emery, in his first career start, was on fire at the plate, picking up four hits in five at-bats and was a triple shy of the cycle. He led the team with five RBI and had one run scored.

Gould and Farrar each added to what has been a hot start with three hits that included two singles and a double. Both scored two runs while Farrar had two RBI.

Orr reached base three times and finished with a pair of hits, including a double, and, out of the leadoff spot, led the squad with three runs scored.

Senior Jordan Williams had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored.
