Oilers Split With Walsh on Sunday

The University of Findlay baseball team split with Walsh University on March 21 in Canton, Ohio. They lost the first game 3-1 before claiming an 11-10 victory in game two. The split gives the Oilers a 6-9 record on the season with a 4-4 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

In game one, junior Brandon Emery went 2-for-3 at the plate while senior Casey Gould drove in Findlay's lone run.

Sophomore Chase Hopewell took the loss on the mound by allowing three runs on four hits in 5.1 innings of work. He struck out five and walked four.

In game two, the Oilers plated seven runs in the second to jump out to a big lead and had to hold off the Cavaliers down the stretch to pick up the win.

Senior Austin Rawlins went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and a run scored while sophomore Cam Farrar finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI.

Sophomore Cole Kwiatkowski finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored while senior Tyler Archambeau plated two on a pair of hits, which included a home run.

Junior Trey Bame picked up the victory in relief by allowing only one run on two hits in 3.2 innings of work. He also struck out five.

The Oilers will be back at home on March 27 to host Lake Erie College in a doubleheader beginning at 12pm.
