The University of Findlay baseball team split a doubleheader with Lake Erie College on March 27 at Fifth Third Field. The Oilers won game one by a score of 5-4 before losing 27-9 in the nightcap. The split gives them a 7-10 record on the season with a 5-5 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

Sophomore Nate Brooks led off the bottom of the frame with a single and scored when senior Ryan O'Malley crushed a two-run homer to left field tying the game at 4-4. After an out, sophomore Cole Kwiatkowski walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. He then advanced to third after tagging on a flyout before coming around to score on a passed ball to give Findlay the victory.

O'Malley finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and a pair of runs-batted-in while Kwiatkowski went 2-for-3.

Junior Anthony Kyle started the game and threw seven innings, striking out nine. He allowed two runs, only one earned, and four hits. Junior Bailey McCord picked up the win by throwing 1.1 innings of shutout ball. He struck out three and walked one.

In game two, the Oilers and Storm were tied at 7-7 in the fourth before the Storm plated 11 in the inning to break it wide open. The Storm's 27 runs set a record for most runs scored in a G-MAC contest and tied the record for most runs scored by a G-MAC team in league history.

The game featured eight home runs including three from the Oilers. Senior Tyler Burley and Brooks each hit solo home runs while senior Tyler Archambeau blasted a three-run homer.

Junior Ryan Mohr started the game and allowed seven runs on eight hits in two innings of action while junior Ben Calisto took the loss in one inning of relief by allowing two runs.

The Oilers will host the Storm again tomorrow for another twin bill.
