Panthers Sweep Oilers on Sunday

The University of Findlay baseball team was swept by Kentucky Wesleyan College on April 11 in a doubleheader at Fifth Third Field. The Panthers won the first game 18-7 before falling 18-5 in game two. The losses give the Oilers a 9-12 record on the season with a 7-7 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Panthers pounded out 35 hits in the first two games of a four-game set and put up a total of 36 runs. The wins push their record to 13-4 on the season with a perfect 10-0 mark in G-MAC play.

In the first game, the Oilers led 7-4 before the Panthers broke the game open with eight runs in the sixth. Junior Anthony Kyle started and allowed six runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings of work. Junior Trey Bame was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs in 0.0 innings of relief.

Junior Brandon Emery went 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored while senior Ethan St. Clair went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in.

Senior Austin Rawlins went 1-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored as well.

In game two, the Panthers jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the third and never looked back. Ryan Mohr took the loss by allowing ten runs, only eight earned, on nine hits in four innings of work.

St. Clair led the Oilers at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a run batted in while senior Tyler Burley went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Sophomore Aiden Lao, junior Daniel Fairchild, and junior Ben Miller each had a hit and drove in a run as well.

The Oilers and Panthers will play two more tomorrow.
