Baseball Beaten in Double Header vs SVSU

Winter Park, Fla. - The University of Findlay baseball team dropped a double header on Friday, March 3 against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals, losing the first game 16-4 before falling in the nightcap by a score of 7-2. With the losses, the Oilers are now 4-6 on the year with two games left on their strip to the Sunshine State. Those games will be against SVSU again tomorrow, March 4.

The Oilers got ahead in the first contest when Cam Farrar went deep in the bottom of the first inning, putting Findlay ahead 1-0. The Cardinals went on to score runs in each of the next eight innings including single runs in the second, third, seventh, and ninth, two runs in the fifth, three runs in the fourth and sixth, and four runs in the eighth.

Anthony Kyle suffered his first loss of the year as he started and tossed 3.2 innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on seven hits. He walked three and struck out three.

Game 2 was not much better for the Oilers as SVSU jumped ahead in the top of the second, scoring one run to lead 1-0.

Findlay tied the game in the bottom of the second when Trey Bame ripped a double to right center, tying the game. It was the last time the game would be tied as the Cardinals went on to score in the third, fifth, sixth, and seventh to secure the five-run win.
