Cardinals Take Down Oilers 4-1 in Midweek Contest

Saginaw, Mich. - The University of Findlay baseball team dropped a midweek contest against the Saginaw Valley St. Cardinals on Wednesday, April 19 on the road. Dropping the game by a score of 4-1, Findlay now has a 19-18 record on the season. SVSU, meanwhile, improves to 19-16 overall.

Findlay got on the board first in the third inning. Freshman Keelan Daniel began the frame with a double to right, one of just two hits on the day for the Oilers, and senior Aiden Lao walked. A sacrifice bunt by senior Cole Kwiatkowski moved the runners over and a fielder's choice off the bat of senior Cam Farrar scored Daniel.

The Cardinals answered right back, scoring a run in the bottom of the third and adding three more in the fourth.

Pitching dominated the remainder of the game. Findlay did manage nine base runners over the final six innings, seven of which came via the walk, one by hit batter, and one single. None of those turned into runs as the Oilers would fall 4-1.

Freshman Ethan Mohr started on the hill, throwing four innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits. He walked five and struck out four.

The Oilers head south for an important Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) South Division series against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23.
