#13 Oilers Claim 78-64 Win Over Northwood

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 13th in the nation, claimed a 78-64 win over Northwood University on Thursday, December 1 in Croy Gymnasium.  The victory gives the Oilers a 5-1 record on the season with a 4-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers jumped out to a 38-29 advantage at the break and kept the Timberwolves in check during the second half as Findlay connected on 52.9 percent (27-of-51) of their field goal attempts in the win.

Junior forward Jack Smith established a new career-high with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting and also added six boards in 32 minutes.

Junior forward Brad Piehl added 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting while sophomore forward Greg Kahlig chipped in 11 points and three rebounds.

Senior guard Kyle Caiola added nine points while sophomore guard Sean Samsel and sophomore forward Mark Frilling scored eight points apiece in the victory.

Junior guard Aaron Robinson had a solid all-around game for the Oilers as well, contributing three points, seven rebounds, a career-high six assists and a pair of steals.

The Timberwolves were led by Wes Wilcox, who scored a game-high 20 points to go along with nine rebounds.

The Oilers, who have now won 67 straight regular season home games against GLIAC opponents, will be back in action again on Saturday when they host Notre Dame College at 3 pm.
