#23 Oilers Cruise to 81-57 Win at Truman

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 23rd in the nation, began the 2018-19 campaign with an 81-57 win over Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

The Oilers fell behind 24-14 with 7:20 remaining in the first half and then closed the opening half on a 25-9 to take control of the game. The Oilers then carried that momentum into the second half and outscored Truman State 42-24 to close out the blowout victory.

The Oilers shot 53.4 percent (31-of-58) from the floor and connected on 11-of-26 (42.3%) of their three point tries. They also held a 33-22 advantage on the boards and forced 21 turnovers in the win.

Senior guard Trey Smith led Findlay with 16 points while sophomore forward Anthony Masterlasco had 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Senior forward Alex White contributed 13 points and four rebounds while sophomore forward Chazz George came off the bench to provide ten points on 4-of-6 shooting.

Sophomore guard Tommy Schmock and junior forward Aaron Overhiser each added eight points apiece in the victory.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow when they face Quincy University at 2pm in Kirksville, Mo.
