Oilers Grind Out 76-67 Win Over Battlers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team grinded out a 76-67 win over Alderson Broaddus University on Dec. 7 in Philippi, W. Va. The victory evens the Oilers record at 4-4 on the season and moves them to 2-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers were down 24-13 before going on a 16-0 run to take a 29-24 lead with 2:39 remaining in the opening half and eventually entered the break tied at 32-32. Both teams then went back and forth throughout the second half, but the Oilers pulled away in the end.

The Oilers ended the game by hitting 46.9 percent (30-of-64) of their field goal attempts, but only 7-of-28 (28%) tries from behind the three point line. They also came away with nine steals and outscored the Battlers by a 44-28 margin in the paint.

Junior guard Tommy Schmock led Findlay with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four steals while sophomore guard Ethan Linder had 13 points and five boards.

Junior forward Chazz George came off the bench to provide 11 points and four rebounds while junior forward Anthony Masterlasco had nine points.

The Battlers, who shot 45.5 percent (25-of-55) from the floor, received a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds from Malik Bocook.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Dec. 14 when they travel to Hillsdale, Mich. to face Hillsdale College at 3pm.
