#7 Oilers Use Big 2nd Half to Win at Lake Erie

The 7th-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team outscored Lake Erie College 46-27 in the second half to pick up a 72-62 victory over the Storm on Feb. 1 in Painesville, Ohio. The win gives the Oilers a 12-1 record on the season with an 11-1 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers struggled from the field all game, hitting only 34.9 percent (22-of-63) of their shot attempts, but came away with ten steals while holding a 44-35 advantage on the glass. They also made 23-of-31 (74.2%) attempts from the free throw line while the Storm converted only 1-of-7 (14.3%) of their tries from the charity stripe.

Sophomore forward Nathan Bruns paced Findlay with 23 points and 11 rebounds while senior guard Tommy Schmock had 17 points, five rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Bruns made 9-of-17 shot attempts while Schmock converted all ten of his free throw tries in the win.

Junior guard Ethan Linder came off the bench to provide 11 points and five rebounds while freshman forward Andrew Owens had six points and seven boards.

The Storm were led by Jacob Plantz's 20 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Feb. 6 when they travel to Hillsdale, Mich. to take on the 15th-ranked Hillsdale College Chargers.
