#6 Oilers Fall in OT to Cedarville

The 6th-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team battled back from a 22-point deficit to force overtime, but fell 90-84 to Cedarville University on Feb. 8 in Niekamp Arena. The loss gives the Oilers a 12-3 record on the season.

Cedarville came out hot and shot 75 percent () from the field in the first half as they ran out to a 49-35 advantage. The Oilers then stormed back to force overtime when senior forward Anthony Masterlasco drilled a three pointer to tie the game at 78-78 with 22 seconds remaining in regulation. The Oilers went cold in the overtime period however and were saddled with their second straight loss.

The Oilers shot 41.9 percent (31-of-74) from the floor and canned 12-of-31 (38.7%) three point attempts. The Yellow Jackets meanwhile connected on 60.7 percent (34-of-56) of their shot attempts and made 10-of-21 (47.6%) tries from behind the three point line.

Senior guard Tommy Schmock paced Findlay with a career-high 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting. He also added five assists, three rebounds, and a pair of steals.

Masterlasco made a career-high five three pointers and finished with 15 points while sophomore forward Nathan Bruns had 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Senior guard Tre'Maine Gray also reached double figures with 11 points and contributed a career-high eight rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Branden Maughmer's 27 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday when they host Walsh University at 7:30 p.m.
