#21 Oilers Grind Out 65-61 Win at Cedarville

The 21st-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team grinded out a 65-61 win over Cedarville University on Feb. 24 in Cedarville, Ohio to close out the regular season. The Oilers win pushes their record to 17-4 on the year with a 16-4 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers held a 38-31 advantage at the half, but led by only two at 63-61 with just under a minute to play. Sophomore guard Joey Edmonds then sunk a pair of free throws with only 16 seconds remaining and the Oilers got two stops and a free throw from sophomore forward Nathan Bruns to close out the game.

Findlay shot 52.0 percent (26-of-50) from the floor and canned 8-of-16 (50%) attempts from behind the three point line. They held the Yellow Jackets to a 43.1 percent (25-of-58) shooting clip, which included a 6-of-22 (27.3%) showing from three point range.

Bruns led the way with 19 points, four rebounds, and four steals while senior guard Tre'Maine Gray had ten points.

Senior guard Tommy Schmock finished with eight points and six assists and became the Oilers 50th player to reach 1,000 points in a career during the win.

Senior forward Anthony Masterlasco had six points, six rebounds, and four assists, while junior forward Deven Stover, junior guard Ethan Linder, junior forward Brady Wildermuth, and Edmonds each had five points apiece.

Branden Maughmer led Cedarville with 19 points.

The Oilers will now be back at home on March 2 to host a yet to be determined game in the first round of the G-MAC Tournament.
