Oilers Hang On to Beat Panthers 69-66

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with a 69-66 win over Ohio Dominican University on Jan. 29 in Columbus, Ohio. The victory gives the Oilers a 13-5 record on the season with a 7-3 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Oilers built a 16-point lead with under seven minutes to play before the Panthers came storming back to tie the game at 64-64 with 1:21 remaining. Findlay then hit 5-of-6 free throw attempts down the stretch to hang on for the win.

The Oilers struggled to put the ball in the hole during the game as they hit on only 34.6 percent (18-of-52) of their field goal attempts. They did however make 42.9 percent (9-of-21) of their three point tries and converted 24-of-35 (68.6%) attempts from the charity stripe in the victory.

Junior guard Joey Edmonds paced the team with 16 points while senior guard Tre'Maine Gray had 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

Senior forward Deven Stover provided a spark off the bench with ten points while senior forward Anthony Masterlasco and junior forward Nathan Bruns had nine points apiece.

The Panthers were led by Matt Hall's 19 points.

The Oilers will now head to Cedarville University for a 7:45 p.m. game on Jan. 31.
