Oilers Beat Hillsdale 61-53

The University of Findlay men's basketball team defeated Hillsdale College by a score of 61-53 on Feb. 5 in Niekamp Arena. The win gives the Oilers a 14-6 record on the season with an 8-4 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Oilers jumped out to a 35-17 lead at the break, but Hillsdale came storming back to come within five at 56-51 with a minute remaining in the contest. Junior forward Nathan Bruns then hit a step-back three pointer late in the shot clock to push the lead back to eight at 59-51 before the Chargers scored on the ensuing possession. Junior guard Joey Edmonds would tack on two free throws down the stretch to seal the win for Findlay.

Senior forward Brady Wildermuth led the Oilers with 13 points and eight rebounds while Edmonds had 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Senior forward Anthony Masterlasco reached double figures with ten points while Bruns finished with nine points and eight boards.

Senior forward Deven Stover and freshman forward Josh Thorbahn provided a spark off the bench with six points apiece.

The Chargers were led by Patrick Cartier's game-high 25 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Feb. 10 when they travel to Canton, Ohio to face Walsh University at 7:30 p.m.
