Eagles Use Huge 2nd Half to Defeat Oilers

The University of Findlay men's basketball team fell 79-62 to Ashland University on Feb. 24 in Niekamp Arena. The loss gives the Oilers a 17-9 record on the season with an 11-7 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers, who were up 40-27 at the break, held a 49-41 lead with under 11 minutes to play before the Eagles rallied as they went on a 17-2 run in the next four minutes to take control of the game. Overall, the Eagles outscored the Oilers 52-22 in the second half.

Findlay ended up shooting 40 percent (22-of-55) from the floor which included a dismal 28 percent (7-of-25) shooting clip in the second half. The Eagles meanwhile connected on 53.7 percent (29-of-54) of their shot attempts which included a 67.9 percent (19-of-28) shooting clip in the final period.

Junior forward Nathan Bruns, who became the Oilers 51st player to top 1,000 career points in the game, finished with a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds while senior guard Tre'Maine Gray also scored 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting.

Senior forward Deven Stover and senior guard Ethan Linder had eight points apiece while junior guard Joey Edmonds and senior forward Brady Wildermuth had six points apiece.

The Eagles were led by Brandon Haraway's 26 points and 11 rebounds.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they have a road game against Tiffin University. The contest is scheduled to start at 1pm.
