Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's basketball team defeated the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans on Saturday, Jan. 14 in Niekamp Arena. Despite falling behind early, the Oilers took control and came away with an 84-66 win against a youthful Trojans squad. With the win, Findlay improves to 10-6 on the season with a 5-3 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while TNU falls to 1-14 overall with an 0-9 record in the conference. The loss extends the Trojans' losing streak to 14 games.

Early on, the game was back-and-forth as neither team was able to take control. Nearly 12 minutes into the game, Trevecca, which started five freshmen in the game, held a 27-19 lead and had the upset on their minds.

It was at that point, Findlay took the game over as back-to-back triples by senior Cameron Shaw jumpstarted a 13-0 run over the next four minutes.

A ten-point lead at the half ballooned to as much as 20 as the Oilers continued to assert their dominance over the team from Nashville.

Both teams shot well as TNU hit 51% of their attempts from the field while Findlay made 48.3% (26-of-58). Findlay hit ten triples, the sixth time this season that they have reached double-digit makes from deep.

A big factor in the game was the turnover margin. Findlay leaned on its' experience to force the young Trojans into 21 turnovers while the Oilers themselves coughed it up just seven times.

Senior Nathan Bruns led the way for Findlay, scoring 20 points on 7-of-12 from the floor. That effort has the Chickasaw, Ohio native at 1,333 points for his career, moving him into 25th in the Oilers' all-time scoring list. He added two rebounds, three assists, and three steals in the win.

Playing some of the best basketball of his career lately, senior Deven Stover scored 16 points on the strength of eight made free-throws.

Freshman Max Roth scored ten points, had two assists, and two steals while freshman Jagger Landers scored eight points and had a team-high seven rebounds.

Findlay heads to Ashland on Thursday, Jan. 19 to take on Ashland and then returns home to play Malone on Saturday, Jan. 21.
