Box Score

Ashland, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's basketball team was defeated on the road by Ashland University 83-64 on Thursday, Jan. 19 in Cates Gymnasium. With the loss, the Oilers fall to 10-7 overall and hold a 5-4 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Ashland stays alive in the race for the regular-season conference crown, improving to 12-5 on the year with an 8-2 record in the G-MAC.

On December 1 when these two teams met in Croy Gymnasium, it was a back-and-forth affair. That game featured 24 lead changes and ultimately ended in victory for Findlay. Thursday night was much different as the Oilers never had a lead and Ashland held a double-digit lead for 32 of the 40 minutes of play.

Ashland shot the ball well, making 34-of-55 (62%) from the floor while the Oilers seemed to struggle, connecting on 25-of-59 (42%). The three-point shot, which has helped Findlay all season long, was not there for the Orange and Black as the visiting team made just 6-of-22 (27%) from long range.

Senior Nathan Bruns led the way for the Oilers as he scored 20 points and had four rebounds. Fellow senior Joey Edmonds scored 18 points, had three rebounds, and led the team with four assists.

Freshman Max Roth scored nine points while senior Deven Stover added six points and led Findlay with six rebounds.

Ashland had five players score in double-figures and were led by Ethan Conley who poured in 19.

Findlay returns home on Saturday, Jan. 21 for a game against the Malone Pioneers in Croy Gymnasium. That contest will tip off at 3:00 pm.
