Oilers Find Themselves in 2nd after Round 1

Results

Dearborn, Michigan- The University of Findlay men's golf team competed at the Motor City Invitational on Sunday, October 13. The Oilers shot a first round score of 305 to find themselves sitting near the top of the leaderboard once again heading into the final round tomorrow. The team is currently 11 strokes back of the tournament leader, Wayne State University and in second place with 18 holes left to play.

Senior Luke Kelly shot a first round score of 72 (E) to pace the Oilers. Kelly sits in a tie for second place in the field. Sophomore Caleb Westfall tallied for a 76 (+4) to be tied for 11th.

Junior Parker Haynes is tied for 15th after a 77 (+5) round one total and sophomore Tanner Grzegorcyzk one shot behind that for a 78 (+6) is tied for 24th.

Rounding out the Oilers were sophomore Hunter Foltz scoring an 80 (+8), tied for 34th and senior Sam Griffith shot 85 (+13) in the first round to be in a tie for 59th.

The Oilers will look to make a comeback in the final 18 holes to conclude their fall season with their fourth tournament victory in six tournaments. The final round will once again be played at TPC Michigan on Monday, October 14.
