Oilers Finish in Second Place at Lindenwood Invitational
St. Charles, MO - The University of Findlay men's golf team played the final round of the Lindenwood Invitational on Tuesday, March 23rd. With their final round of 286, the Oilers finished runner-up for the tournament.
The Oilers were led by freshman Donnie Professori who put together a three round total of 213. His even par 54-hole score tied for 7th in the field after rounds of 71 (E), 68 (-3), and 74 (+3). Professori tied for most birdies made throughout the 54 holes by making 14 throughout the tournament.
Playing as an individual in the tournament, senior Brock Kehres tied for 7th as well after a 54-hole total of 213. Kehres' even par tournament score consisted of rounds of 69 (-2), 71 (E), and 73 (+2).
Next for the Oilers was senior Parker Haynes who finished in a tie for 12th with a three round total of 218 (+5). In his first two rounds, Haynes shot a 77 (+6) and a 74 (+3). In the final round, Haynes put together a round of 67 (-4) which included eight birdies throughout the 18 hole round. The final round of 67 (-4) is the fourth best score relative to par in program history.
Tying with Haynes with a 54-hole total score of 218 (+5) to be in a tie for 12th as well was senior Luke Kelly. Kelly went on to fire rounds of 73 (+2), 71 (E), and 74 (+3) for the tournament.
Freshman Justin Atkinson finished in a tie for 17th with a tournament total of 220 (+7). He compiled rounds of 73 (+2), 71 (E), and finished his final round with a round of 76 (+5). Playing as an individual in the tournament as well, junior Caleb Westfall tied for 17th in the event as well with a tournament total of 220 (+7). He began with an opening round 69 (-2), 71 (E), and finished with a final round 80 (+9).
Rounding out the Oilers was junior Tanner Grzegorczyk who fired an even par 71 in the final round.
The Oilers will be back in action when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky at the University of Kentucky Club on March 29th and 30th for the Findlay Spring Invite.
