Oilers Take Third at G-MAC Championship | Kelly and Grzegorczyk All-Conference

Lexington, KY- The University of Findlay men's golf team finished the final round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday, April 20. The Oilers scored a final round score of 292 (+4) to finish the championship with a third place finish behind champions Trevecca Nazarene and runner-up finishers Hillsdale College. For the tournament, the Oilers shot a 54-hole team score of 872 (+8).

Senior Luke Kelly, an all-conference honoree with his runner-up finish, fired a round of one under par 71 to finish the tournament with a 211 (-5). Kelly fell just one shot back after the conclusion of the round and nearly created a playoff for the outright G-MAC Individual Champion on his 54th hole of the tournament. With his three round score of 211 (-5), the score ranks fourth best in program history for lowest 54-hole score. 

Junior Tanner Grzegorcyzk, an all-conference honoree with his T10 finish, fired a final round of three under par, 69. For the tournament, Grzegorcyzk tallied a 54-hole score of 218 (+2) (69,80,69). The three under par score of 69 marks the third time in the last four rounds where the junior has posted a sub-70 score for the Oilers.

Senior Parker Haynes, tied for 21st for the championship with a 54-hole score of 223 (+7). After rounds of 76 (+4) and 74 (+2), Haynes improved in the final round with a 73 (+1). Freshman Justin Atkinson tied for 26th after posting a three round total of 226 (+10). Atkinson tallied an even par 72 and one-over par 73 before posting a final round 81 (+9).

Rounding out the Oilers was junior Caleb Westfall who tied for 46th in the event with a 235 (+19) total. Westfall shot rounds of 80 (+8), 76 (+4), and 79 (+7).

The Oilers will look to prepare for a chance to advance to the DII Men's Golf National Championship when they compete at the Midwest Super Regional awaiting the decison of the selcetion committee. If chosen, it will mark the program's third straight Midwest Regional appearance. The regional is set to be played at Shoal Creek Golf Course in Kansas City, MO on Thursday, May 6 through Saturday, May 8.
