Atikinson Named G-MAC Freshman of the Year
Justin Atkinson was named the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Freshman of the Year for the University of Findlay men's golf team as the conference office announced their annual postseason awards on May 4.
Atkinson is tied for the team lead in scoring average at 73.04 and ranks 59th among all NCAA Division II golfers in birdies with 70. He was named the G-MAC Athlete of the Week on Sep. 23 after finishing in third place at the Doc Spragg Invitational in his first collegiate event.
In addition, senior Luke Kelly and junior Tanner Grzegorczyk each earned all-conference honors for the Oilers as well.
Grzegorczyk shares the team lead in scoring average at 73.04 and has been named G-MAC Athlete of the Week twice this season. He ranks ninth among all NCAA Division II golfers in birdies with 91 and won the Ken Partridge Invitational and Kyle Ryman Memorial this year for the Oilers.
Kelly meanwhile has been named all-conference four times now during his career and finished as the runner-up at the G-MAC Championship.
