Oilers Tied for Third After Day One of Doc Spragg Fall Invitational

Findlay, OhioThe University of Findlay men's golf team is in third place after the completion of thirty-six holes today Monday, Sep. 20, at the Doc Spragg Fall Invitational. The Oilers shot a 36- hole score of 581 (290, 291). The Oilers are ten shots of the leader, the University of Indianapolis. 
 
The Oilers were led by senior Tanner Grzegorczyk who shot four- under par (68,72). He is currently in a tie for third place individually and three shots behind the leader. Grzegorczyk's first round was strong as he carded five birdies and an eagle. He fought back in the second round after four straight bogeys to finish even par, capped by an eagle on the last. Grzegorczyk would dominate the par-fives today playing them eight-under, better than anyone in the field.  
 
Alongside Grzegorczyk, were sophomores Donnie Professori and Justin Atkinson. Professori opened with a 71 (-1) in his first round and closed the day with a 74 (+2) putting him in a tie for 22nd place. Atkinson sits tied for 26th at two- over par (75,71). Senior Caleb Westfall is in a tie for 48th at six- over par (76,74). Rounding out the lineup is senior Parker Haynes who shot 76 (+4) in the first round before signing an incorrect scorecard that led to a disqualification in the second round. 
 
The Oilers also have two other teams competing in the event.
  
Findlay's B squad shot a 36- hole score of 585 (289, 296). This leaves them in seventh place in the field.  
 
Leading Findlay's B squad was senior Hunter Foltz. Foltz sits in solo second after being five-under on the day (70,69). He carded eight birdies and an eagle on the day. He is two shots behind the individual leader. 
Assisting Foltz were freshman Tyler Vallee and Jonathan Greene. Vallee sits in a tie for 35th after being three-over for the two rounds (73,74). Greene is in a tie for 41st after being five-over par for the day (72,77).  Rounding out the B squad were junior Nathan Osborne and senior Brock Kehres. The pair both sit in a tie for 55th. Osborne shot 74, 77 while Kehres went 75, 76.   
 
Findlay's C squad shot a 36-hole score of 624 (303, 321). This leaves them in fourteenth place in the field.  
 
Leading Findlay's C squad was junior Connor Ohlrich. Ohlrich was six-over on the day (73,77) leaving him in a tie for 48th.  Joining him was sophomore Luke Gazarek who was fourteen-over par for the two rounds (78, 80) and leaves his in a tie for 80th place. Also on the B squad is junior Holden Scribner who finished fifteen-over par (74, 85) and is in a tie for 83rd place. Rounding out the C squad are Jack Soper and Blake Steiner. Junior Jack Soper is in 85th place after being sixteen-over par on the day (80, 80). Freshman Blake Steiner is in a tie for 88th after a day of eighteen-over par (78, 84). 
 
Competing as individuals in the event are sophomores Austin Boley and Zach Crane. Austin Boley is in 78th place after a twelve-over par day (81, 75). Zach Crane is in a tie for 80th after rounds of fourteen- over par (74, 84). 
 
The Oilers look to improve tomorrow, Tuesday Sep. 21 in the final round at Findlay Country Club. Tee times begin at 9am.
