Oilers Take Sixth at Motor City Invite/National Championship Preview

Dearborn, Michigan- The University of Findlay men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Motor City Invite after the final round today, Oct. 11. The tournament is a preview of the Division II Men's Golf National Championship in May 2022 which will also be held at TPC Michigan. The Oilers shot 292, 292 (+8). They finished twenty shots behind the team champion, Georgia Southwestern.  

The Oilers were led by sophomore Donnie Professori. Professori shot one-under par (73,70) and finished tied for twelfth. Professori carded four birdies and an eagle in his second round leading to his two-under par round today. He averaged 4.50 (-4) on the par fives this week. 

Assisting Professori, were seniors Tanner Grzegorczyk and Caleb Westfall. Grzegorczyk finished the tournament in a tie for 17th after rounds of 69, 75 (E).  Westfall finished in a tie for 27th after rounds of 73,73 (+2). Sophomore Justin Atkinson finished in a tie for 39th with rounds of 77, 74 (+7). Rounding out the lineup is senior Parker Haynes who shot rounds of 79,77 (+12) leaving him in a tie for 61st .  

Competing as individuals at the tournament were freshman Jonathan Green and senior Hunter Foltz. The pair tied for 50th. Green shot rounds of 78 and 76 (+10) and Foltz shot rounds of 74 and 80 (+10).  

The Oilers fall season has come to a close. They will be back in action on Mar. 13 and 14 at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate in Sevierville, TN.
