Oilers Finish Second at Doc Spragg Fall Invitational

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's golf concluded their annual Doc Spragg Fall Invitational today, Tuesday, Sep. 20 at Findlay Country Club. The Oilers shot rounds of 283 (-5), 278 (-10), and 284 (-4) to leave them at -19 for the tournament and in second place. Their 54-hole score is the third best score in program history. They finished five strokes behind the team champion, Grand Valley State University.

Leading the Oilers was senior Tanner Grzegorczyk. Grzegorczyk carded rounds of 71 (-1), 71 (-1), and 66 (-6). He finished eight-under par for the tournament and in a tie for fourth place. Grzegorczyk, who broke the 18-hole school record two weeks ago, fired off the score today to climb twelve spots on the leaderboard and earn a spot on the all-tournament team. He recorded six birdies and an eagle on route to the third best 18-hole score in program history. His 54-hole score is the third best in program history.

Following closely behind Grzegorczyk was fellow senior Caleb Westfall. Westfall recorded rounds of 68 (-4), 70 (-2), and 73 (+1) to close the tournament at five-under par and in a tie for seventh place. Junior Donnie Professori carded rounds of 72 (E), 67 (-5), and 77 (+5) to finish at even par and in a tie for 18th. Hunter Foltz made a push up the leaderboard today with a 71 (-1) after rounds of 76 (+4) and 70 (-2) yesterday. He finished tied for 25th at one-over par. Rounding out the Oilers lineup was sophomore Tyler Vallee who finished tied for 28th after rounds of 72 (E), 72 (E), and 74 (+2).

The Oilers has three total teams competing. Findlay's "B" Team finished at 17-over par (881) to tie for thirteenth. Findlay's "C" Team finished twelfth at 15-over par (879).
