Findlay Defeats ODU to Claim First G-MAC Victory

Columbus, OH - The University of Findlay men's soccer team was victorious in their first ever Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match on Wednesday, September 6 at Ohio Dominican. The Oilers earned the 2-1 decision over the Panthers, improving their record to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in G-MAC play.

The Oilers struck first with a goal in the 28th minute by sophomore Josh Burton. The goal was scored when Burton took a free kick from 25 yards out after a penalty on the Panthers. The rest of the first half would remain scoreless and Findlay would head into halftime with the lead.

After the match was quickly tied in the second half, freshman Josh Hales delivered his second goal of the season in the 69th minute to give the Oilers the 2-1 lead. The score would remain for the entirety of the match.

Senior Ben Richter recorded five saves for the night and earned the goal keeper decision. The Oilers fired off nine shots per half, making 18 total shots with six shots on goal. 

The Oilers will be back on the pitch Saturday, September 9 when they visit Malone University. The match is set to begin at 3:00 PM.
