Oilers Fall to Ashland

Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay men's soccer team fell to the Ashland University Eagles in a regional contest on Tuesday, October 17 at DeHaven Field. The 3-2 final drops the Oilers to 10-4 (9-2) while the Eagles improve to 7-7 (2-7).

The first half was dominated by Ashland, as they scored in the 23rd minute and again in the 27th minute to go into halftime with the 2-0 lead. The Oilers were only able to create three shots on goal out of thier six shot attempts for the period.

Ashland looked to increase their control of the game in the second half, scoring a third goal in the 68th minute of the contest.

This time Findlay was quick to respond, scoring a goal of their own just a minute later from the foot of sophomore Josh Dickinson. Freshman Alex Kerstetter was credited with his sixth assist of the year on the goal. 

With less than two minutes remaining in regulation, junior Josh Burton cut the deficit to one by firing in a shot from a free kick passed the Eagle goalkeeper. This was Burton's G-MAC leading 11th goal of the season.

The Oilers had one more late scoring opportunity, but the Ashland defense held strong as time expired to secure the 3-2 victory.

Junior Nathan Sier began the second half for the Oilers at goal keeper and recorded three saves on the day.

Findlay will be back on the pitch this Thursday, October 19, hosting G-MAC opponent Trevecca Nazerene in a contest set to begin at 1:00 pm.
