Oilers Fall to Walsh

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay men's soccer team faced G-MAC competitor Walsh University on September 29 at DeHaven Field at 4:00 PM. The Oilers lost with a final score of 3-1. The loss moves Findlay to a season record of 2-8 and a 2-5 record in conference play. The Cavaliers improved to 5-5-1 overall with a conference record of 3-5-1.

The first half was a back and forth battle with possession with Findlay taking three shots to Walsh's one. The half ended scoreless.

The second half held all the action with Findlay scoring the first goal of the game in the 52nd minute of the match. Sophomore Ben Bolinger was the goal scorer for the Oilers after putting it past the goalie after an initial save from a shot from sophomore Josh Hales. Walsh fired back quickly just three minutes later with a goal to tie the game.

Late in the second half Walsh was scored two more goals to take the lead and secure the win over the Oilers. Walsh outshot the Oilers 11 to 7 in the second half.

Sophomore Josh Hales and junior Josh Dickinson each had three shots a piece.

Freshman Nathanael Yoder was in goal for the Oilers and picked up six saves in the loss.

The Oilers will be back on Thursday, October 4 against Alderson Broaddus. The match is set to begin at 7:30 PM in Philippi, West Virginia.
