Dickinson's Hat-Trick Leads Oilers to 5-0 Victory

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team competed against conference opponent Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, October 3 at DeHaven Field. With the 5-0 win, the Oilers move their record to 6-2 and 3-2 in conference play. The Panthers fall to 3-4 on the year and 1-3 in the conference. 

Senior Josh Dickinson highlighted the contest by completing a hat-trick. He had his three goals all in the second half to break the scoring open for the Oilers. His first goal came in the 45th minute, and his second came in the 69th off a penalty kick. His final goal came in the 76th minute off a cross from Jack Atkinson. Dickinson's hat-trick is the first at UF since October 5, 2017 when Alex Kerstetter scored three goals against Walsh. This is the fourth multi-goal game in Dickinson's career, and second this season.

The Oilers continued the scoring after sophomore Gilberto Quintero and freshman Harrison Szep scored in the 80th and 88th minute. With all five goals coming in the second half, the Oilers ultimately outshot the Panthers 25-4 in total shots.

Junior Alex Kerstetter had 5 shots accounted for along with freshman David Hug with 4. Jack Atkinson had the lone assist for the game.

The Oilers' defense picked up their fourth shutout of the season and second against Kentucky Wesleyan. Against the Panthers this year, the Oilers have scored ten goals.

On Saturday, October 5 the men will be back in action against the visiting Trevecca Nazarene University for another conference showdown at DeHaven Field. The scheduled start time is 3:00 p.m.
