Storm Defense Holds Strong Against Oilers

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's soccer team competed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup on Thursday, April 1 versus the visiting Lake Erie College. The Oilers fell to the Storm in a 1-0 defensive battle. With the loss, the Oilers fall to 2-1-2 (2-1-2) whereas the Storm improve to 4-2 (4-2). 

The game was built around both teams' defenses and played within the neutral third of the field for the better part of the first half. The first shot was not taken until the 32nd minute of the game by the Storm and scoreless into the completion of the first half.

In the 66th minute of the game, Utgaard of Lake Erie broke free to get one past the Oilers' goalkeeper, Andrew Boulton. With the goal, the Storm went up 1-0, ultimately deciding the contest.

The Storm's defense was the deciding factor in the game by not allow a single shot attempt to the Oilers. On the contrary, the Storm were able to attempt 11 shots, 8 of which were on goal including the goal by Utgaard.

Boulton recorded 7 saves while allowing the lone goal in the game.

The Oilers will be back in action in a weeks time when they travel to Cedarville on Thursday, April 8th. The game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
