Big Second Half Leads Oilers to a Route of KWC

Findlay, OH - The University of Findlay men's soccer team used four second half goals on Thursday, Sep. 30 to take down the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers by a score of 4-0. The victory gives the Oilers a record of 3-4-1 overall and a 2-2-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while KWC falls to 1-5-0 and 1-4-0 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, the Oilers struck in the 48th minute off a well-placed penalty kick by senior Ben Bolinger. Just two short minutes later, freshman Sammy Linville scored his first career goal for the Oilers on a Zach Lauron assist.

Bolinger got back into the scoring with his second goal of the game and season off another penalty kick in the 66th minute. To finish the second half scoring, Zach Lauron finished on a perfect Patryk Kibler pass for his fourth goal of the season.

Junior Andrew Boulton faced no shots in 84 minutes of play before Kolten Crouch relieved him to finish the game. The combined shutout is the Oilers first of the season.

In the contest, KWC managed just three shots, none of which were on goal. The Oilers put the pressure on, especially in the second half, as they amassed 18 shots, 14 of which came after halftime.

The Oilers will be back in action Saturday Oct. 2nd against Trevecca Nazarene back at Dehaven Field.
