A Strong First Half Propels Oilers over Pioneers

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay Men's soccer team took on the Malone Pioneers at home on Tuesday Sept. 27. Coming into the contest the Oilers held a 5-2-1 record overall and a 3-1-1 record in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. 

Findlay started their offensive show not even one minute into the game when sophomore Christian Palushaj found the back of the net off a pass from junior Mitchell Hanosh

The Pioneers would respond with a goal of their own in the 4th minute to tie the game at 1 goal each.

Freshmen Adam Boone would score his first goal of the season in the 10th minute of play off an assist from Christian Palushaj to put the Oilers up 2-1.

Palushaj would score his second goal of the contest in the 39th minute of play unassisted to put Findlay up by 2.

Junior Nick McCracken would find the back of the net in the 40th minute of play off an assist from sophomore Brendan Ash to give the Oilers a commanding 4-1 lead.

The Pioneers would tally another goal goal late in the second half of play but the Oilers could not be beat.

Senior Andrew Boulton would start in goal for the Oilers and play the first half. Sophomore Nathan Smith would play the second 45 minutes of the game and record one save. 

With the win the Oilers advance to 6-2-1 overall record and a 4-1-1 record in the G-MAC. Findlay will be back on the pitch on Thursday Sept 29 when they take on the Cedarville University Yellowjackets at DeHaven at 4 PM.
