The University of Findlay men's soccer team has earned a trip to the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship for the fourth consecutive season and will enter the tournament as the sixth seed. The six-team tournament begins on Saturday, Oct. 29 with a pair of quarterfinal matchups. Five days later the tournament will move to top-seeded Tiffin University, the regular season champion, who will host both the semifinals and finals.

Findlay's quarterfinal game will be played tomorrow at 7:00 pm EST and sends the Oilers on the road to take on Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. The two teams have met 25 times since 2008 and the Oilers hold a 9-14-2 record against the Storm in those games. Findlay's lasat win against Lake Erie came in 2018, a 2-1 victory in Painesville.

The Oilers are 9-7-1 on the season and have a 7-6-1 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Findlay started the year strong, boasting a 6-2-2 record through ten games. Down the stretch, however, games started to go the other way as the Orange and Black wrapped up the regular-season taking losses in four of its' final six games. However, the Oilers have proven to be a dangerous team as they have a pair of wins over second-seeded Ashland and a tie with regular-season champion Tiffin on their resume.

Findlay enters the tournament scoring 1.8 goals per game, sixth-best in the conference, but has a save percentage of .758 which ranks second in the conference. Sophomore Christian Palushaj is the leading goal-scorer for the Orange and Black as he has found the back of the net nine times this season to go along with five assists, also a team-high. Junior Nick McCracken and senior Bjoern Gilles each have five goals scored this season while senior David Hug has four. In goal, senior Andrew Boulton has almost 1,300 minutes played in 16 games this season, collecting 59 saves. He has four shutouts to his credit.

Should the Oilers win, they will go on to face second-seeded Ashland on Thursday, Nov. 3 in the semifinals. The championship game will be held two days later, Nov. 5 in Tiffin, Ohio.
