Oilers Finish 5th At EMU
The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the second day of the Eastern Michigan University Invitational on Saturday, December 1 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The women finished fourth with 383 points as the men's team took fifth with 104 points.
Kaley Holmstrom led the Oilers with a new school record in the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:07.37 to land her an eighth place finish in the event.
Holmstrom, along with Isidora Yanez, Tanya Tikhonova and Emily Thomas, took seventh in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.54. Yanez placed tenth in the 100 back (1:01.55) and Tikhonova finished 12th (1:03.94) in the same event.
Holmstrom and Thomas teamed with Molly Cade and Annie Currin for seventh (4:04.69) in the 400 medley relay. In the 800 free relay, Thomas, Cade, Currin and Ailsa Hershaw finished seventh, clocking in at 7:57.75.
Currin and Thomas took 11th (1:58.87) and 12th (1:59.13) in the 200 free. Jillian Herbst generated a 12th place in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.15.
Cade snatched 11th in the 50 free (24.87) and teamed with Thomas, Currin, and Tikhonova for sixth place finish in the 200 free relay (1:40.47).
On the men's side, Diego Santos placed 11th in the 100 back (54.00) and teamed with Anthony Calvillo, Colton Sayers, and Garrett Gardner for 11th in the 200 medley relay (1:45.52).
The 200 free relay team, consisting of David Conti, Calvillo, Gardner, and Jay Clinger, placed ninth with a time of 1:33.40. Conti took 12th in the 400 IM (4:37.92).
Sayers finished 13th in the 100 fly, clocking in at 55.19. The 400 medley relay team (Gardner, Conti, Sayers, Clinger) snatched ninth at 3:55.82.
At the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College, Maddie Bell took silver in the 3 meter dive with 373.05 points.
The Oilers will travel to Ada, Ohio to face both Ohio Northern and Defiance College. The meet is slated for 1 p.m.
