Kuyama & Carrasco Win Doubles at Hillsdale

The University of Findlay men's tennis team completed the Charger Invitational on Sep. 13 in Hillsdale, Mich.

Soh Kuyama and Octavio Carrasco won the No. 1 doubles competition at the event with a 2-0 record. They defeated Tiffin's Michael Gurtner and Gabriel de Oliveira in the opening round by a score of 6-3 before topping Walsh's Jakob Riglewski and Alex Madina 6-2 in the finals.

In No. 2 doubles action, Alfredo Berlanga and Florian Bauer finished as the runner-up with a 1-1 record. They reached the finals with a 6-2 win over Hillsdale's Tyler Conrad and Sean Barstow before falling 7-6 to Tiffin's Joe Gilman and Matthew Telford.

In No. 3 doubles, Mark Ivanov and Ivaylo Slavov teamed to go 0-2 with losses against Hillsdale's Daniel Gilbert and Gabe Katz (6-4) and Walsh's Dawson Drummond and Austin Arfaras (7-6).

In No. 1 singles action Kuyama went 1-1 as he fell 6-4, 6-4 to Walsh's Jakob Riglewski before defeating Hillsdale's Brennan Cimpeanu 6-2, 7-5.

In No. 2 singles competition, Berlanga went 1-1 as he lost 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 to Hillsdale's Brian Hackman before winning 6-2, 6-2 against Walsh's Clemens Wagner.

In No. 3 singles action, Bauer went 1-1 as he fell 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 to Hillsdale's Tyler Conrad before securing a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Walsh's Alex Medina.

In No. 4 singles competition, Andrew Codita went 1-1 after falling 6-1, 6-1 to Hillsdale's Sean Barstow and winning against Walsh's Dawson Drummond by a score of 6-3, 1-6, 10-7.

In No. 5 singles action, Ivanov went 0-2 with losses against Hillsdale's Daniel Gilbert (7-6, 6-1) and Walsh's Filipp Kulynych (7-6, 6-4).

In No. 6 singles competition, Slavov went 1-1 after defeating Walsh's Austin Arfaras 6-2, 6-2 and losing 6-0, 6-2 against Hillsdale's Gabe Katz.
