Kuyama Advances to Semifinals at ITA

 

The University of Findlay men's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional in Indianapolis, Ind. during the first two days of the tournament on Sep. 19-20 and were led by Soh Kuyama in the men's singles main draw as he advanced to the semifinals by going 3-0. He defeated Indianapolis' Max Witthaus 6-1, 6-3, Indianapolis' Tom Zeuch 1-6, 6-2, 10-7, and Indianapolis' Yoann Viel 6-4, 6-2. He will square off against Illinois Springfield's Menno Servaes for a chance to go to the finals on Monday.

Florian Bauer went 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-7, 13-11 win over Southern Indiana's Dylan Brown while Andrew Codita went 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Indianapolis' Bruno Kreidler. Ivaylo Slavov also went 1-1 after scoring a victory against Pedro Braga by a score of 7-5, 6-1.

Octavio Carrasco, Mark Ivanov, and Alfredo Berlango each went 0-1 in the singles main draw.

In the men's singles Ad-Hoc bracket, Octavio Carrasco won 7-5, 6-3 against Kooper Falkenstein while Alfredo Berlango, Mark Ivanov, Ivaylo Slavov, and Andrew Codita all lost their matches.

In the main doubles draw, Florian Bauer and Alfredo Berlango teamed to go 1-1 with an 8-1 win over Pedro Braga and Cutter Sanders while Andrew Codita and Ivaylo Slavov teamed to go 1-1 with and 8-1 victory against Southern Indiana's Dylan Brown and Preston Cameron.

In the men's doubles Ad-Hoc brackets, Ivaylo Slavov and Andrew Codita fell 9-8 to Clemens Wagner and Filipp Kulynych while Soh Kuyama and Octavio Carrasco defeated Pedro Braga and Cutter Sanders 8-3.
