Oilers Split With #25 Dragons

The University of Findlay softball team split a doubleheader with #25 Tiffin University on Saturday, April 23 in Tiffin, Ohio. The Oilers lost the first game 9-1 and then won 5-3 in the second contest to give them an 19-19-1 record on the season with a 7-16 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, Jaci Messmer doubled home Anna Britvec in the fifth inning for the Oilers lone run.

Lauren Orban took the loss after allowing six runs on ten hits in 3.2 innings of action.

In the second game, Brittany Dauterman hit a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Oilers the victory.

Dauterman finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs-batted-in and one run scored while Emily Reynolds and Calli Coppus each recorded a pair of hits in the game.

Julia Stalder started and allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings of work.

Tawna Whited picked up the victory in relief, throwing two innings of shutout ball to go along with four strikeouts.

The Oilers will be back in action again on April 26 when they travel to Detroit, Michigan to face Wayne State University in a twin bill beginning at 4 pm.
