Oilers Win Doubleheader In Clermont, Florida

The University of Findlay softball team won a pair of games on Saturday, March 8 in Clermont, Florida.  The Oilers defeated Gannon 4-3 then defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 5-3. 

In their win against Gannon, Tawna Whited picked up the victory on the mound by striking out seven hitters in seven innings.  In addition to her pitching, Whited helped lead the offense at the plate with a single and a RBI. 

Megan Turner also helped lead the offense with a single, one run scored and a RBI. 

In their win against West Virginia Wesleyan, Jackie Messersmith picked up the victory on the mound by striking out two hitters in four innings.  Nicole Motuza picked up the save by pitching the final three innings of the contest.  Messersmith also helped lead the offense at the plate with a single and three runs scored. 

Courtney Dwyer and Emily Stewart both added two singles in the game while Morgan Arnold finished the game with a single, one run scored and a RBI.  Tori Allen also added a double and a RBI in the victory. 

The Oilers return to the field tomorrow on the final day of their spring trip when they face Urbana and Winona State in a two-game set.
