Oilers Lose Game 1 To Bulldogs

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay softball team lost a matchup against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Ferris State University, which took place on Saturday, April 25 at Anderson Field.  The Oilers have a 25-20 overall record on the season, which includes a 13-11 record in GLIAC play. 

Nicole Motuza took the loss on the mound for the Oilers.  She gave up five hits in 1.2 innings of work.  Jenna Inman pitched 3.1 innings and gave up five hits and struck out two batters, and then Bonnie Zappitelli pitched the final two innings and gave up one hit and struck out two batters. 

The Bulldogs held a 5-0 lead through six innings.  The Oilers tried to comeback in the final inning scoring three runs, but unfortunately fell short as the Bulldogs claimed the 5-3 victory. 

Lauren Trumpler had a good game at the plate for the Oilers finishing with two doubles, a single and one run batted in while Emily Stewart finished with two singles and one run batted in.  Katie Dunphy finished the game with one single, one run scored and one run batted in. 

The Oilers will return to the field on Sunday, April 26 when they will matchup against Ferris State to finish the two game series.  The game is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
