Oilers Split in Clermont

Clermont, Fla. – The University of Findlay softball team traveled to Florida to compete against St. Cloud St. and Wheeling Jesuit on March 6. The Oilers fell to the Huskies 1-2 in game one, and came back to defeat the Cardinals 9-6 in game two. The split improved Findlay's record to 7-7 on the season.

In game one, sophomore Devyn Zuro and senior Salwa Al-Hajabed each went 1 for 3 behind the plate for the Oilers, while junior pinch runner, Rachel Vander Roest scored one run.

Sophomore Caragyn Yanek pitched 6.2 innings against the Huskies, and recorded four strikeouts, and allowed eight hits and two runs.

Game vs. Wheeling Jesuit| W 9-6 (Box Score)

Junior Rebecca Harvey lead the team in game two against the Cardinals. Harvey went 3 for 3 behind the plate, batted in three runners, and scored two runs.

Al-Hajabed was also strong contributor in the Oilers win over Wheeling Jesuit. In game two she had three hits for her four at bats, recorded two RBIs and one run.

Zuro went 2 for 3, scored one run, and recorded one RBI. Junior Allison Brunner and senior Amanda Delmonte each went 1 for 3. Brunner scored two runs and one RBI in the win, while Delmonte had one run and one RBI.

Sophomore Dylan Wiley 1 hit for 4 and scored one run.

Senior Carly Brandon pitched 3.1 innings in the win, recorded three strikeouts, allowed four runs and five hits.

Senior Hailey Bryan finished the game for the Oilers, pitching 3.2 innings, recording two strikeouts, and only allowing two hits and two runs.

The Oilers are back in action on March 8 in Clermont, Fla. where they will face Edinboro and Fairmont St. in a double header starting at 1:30pm.
