Box Score

Akron, Ohio – After rain forced a full day of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) softball tournament to be postponed, the University of Findlay softball team finally got back on the field on Saturday, May 4 to take on Cedarville University in the consolation bracket. The Oilers took an early lead but ultimately lost the game 7-2, ending their tournament run and their season. The Oilers bow out with a record of 24-23 for the 2019 season.

A sacrifice fly by sophomore Devyn Zuro put the Oilers ahead in the top of the first and that lead extended to 2-0 in the second when Sadie Gearhart drove in Allison Brunner with an RBI single.

Cedarville's big inning came in the third when they used four hits to plate four runs and take the lead at 4-2.

The Oilers had two hits from that point on and the Yellow Jackets added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win and advanced to the consolation final in the tournament.

Gearhart paced the Oilers offense with a 3-for-3 day at the dish while junior Rebecca Harvey has two hits.

Playing in her final game, senior Amanda DelMonte had one hit and one run scored and finishes her career with 153 hits and a career batting average of .304.

She walked three and struck out two. Bryan also ends her career with the most pitching appearances at 113 and she totaled 249 strikeouts and a career ERA of just 2.79.
