Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

Canton, Ohio – The University of Findlay softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Malone University on Saturday, April 3. The Oilers lost the first game 10-0 in a game that ended in the fifth due to run rule and later lost the second game by a score of 5-2. With the losses, Findlay falls to 12-13 on the year and 3-5 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while Malone improves to 10-5-1 on the season and 4-4 in the conference.

In the first game, Findlay faced a dominant pitching performance as they picked up just a pair of hits in the five-inning affair. Those hits were by freshman Avery Shepherd and sophomore Tori Budzinski, who hit a double in the fifth inning.

Malone's pitcher, Kelsey Byers, had a perfect game through three innings and finished with eight strikeouts.

Senior Megan Fisher took the loss for Findlay as she threw 2.1 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on four hits. She struck out six and walked two to fall to 4-6 on the year.

In the second contest, Malone kept the foot on the gas as they scored two runs in the first inning and three more in the second to take a quick 5-0 lead.

Findlay scored their only runs of the day in the fifth inning after Shepherd hit a leadoff double and advanced on a single by junior Caroline Turner. A single by Fisher loaded the bases when junior Lyndsey Seamon singled to make the score 5-2. A fly out and a strikeout ended the threat with two runners left on base.

Junior Lexi Hilling took the loss as she threw six innings and gave up five runs, two earned, on seven hits. She struck out a career-high nine batters in the complete game effort.

The Oilers return to action on Tuesday, April 6 when they host Lake Erie College in a doubleheader that is set to begin at 3:30 pm.
