Oilers Hand Trevecca First Conference Loss | Split Doubleheader

Nashville, TN - The University of Findlay Oilers split a doubleheader matchup against Trevecca Nazarene on Friday, April 16 where they won the first matchup by a score of 2-1, and lost the second matchup 8-1. Findlay moved its record to 17-14 overall, 8-6 in the conference, while Trevecca moves to 15-7 overall, and now has a conference record of 7-1. The win for the Oilers snapped a 13 game win streak for the Trojans.

The Oilers did their damage in the third inning, taking advantage of a Trevecca Nazarene error that led to sophomore Tori Budzinski scoring. Later in the inning, senior Dylan Wiley doubled to left center field and drove home senior Megan Fisher to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead.

Findlay would give up one run in the bottom of the sixth, but avoided more damage as Trevecca had two runners on base when the inning ended.

Fisher pitched all seven innings for the Oilers, pitching 10 strikeouts, giving up seven hits, and allowing just one run. She now has a record of 7-6 on the year.

In game number two, the Oilers would surrender one run in the first, second, fourth, and fifth inning. The only run scored by the orange and black came in the top of the fifth, when junior Caroline Turner singled and led to sophomore Makayla Cowan scoring. 

Senior Caragyn Yanek dropped her record to 6-3, giving up four runs, three earned, on nine hits, and two strike outs in 4.1 innings. Junior Lexie Hilling pitched 1.2 innings and gave up four runs, all earned, and seven hits. 

The Oilers next match will take place on Sunday, April 18 as they will travel to Tiffin to take on the Dragons in a doubleheader matchup. The first game is set to start at 12:00pm.
