Oilers Split With Tiffin

The University of Findlay softball team split a doubleheader at Tiffin University on April 18 as they lost game one 3-0 before winning 9-5 in the second. The split gives the Oilers an 18-15 record on the season with a 9-7 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Oilers only managed two hits in the first game as senior Megan Fisher took the loss by allowing three runs, only two earned, on six hits in six innings of work. She struck out five and walked one.

In the second game, the Oilers jumped out to a 7-0 lead midway through the second and held off the Dragons from there, scoring nine runs on 11 hits.

Junior Caroline Turner went 3-for-5 with one run and one run batted in while junior Kyla Snow went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI's.

Senior Devyn Zuro went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a home run while Fisher drove in three runs, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate.

Senior Dylan Wiley drove in two runs on a hit and junior Gloria Corona scored a run and went 2-for-3.

Senior Caragyn Yanek picked up the victory after allowing five runs, only three earned, in six innings of action.

The Oilers will be back at home on April 20 to host Ursuline College in a twin bill beginning at 3:30 p.m.
