The University of Findlay softball team split a doubleheader with Ohio Dominican University on March 29 in Columbus, Ohio. The Oilers lost the first game 7-1 before coming back with a 4-3 win in extra innings during the second contest of the day. The split gives the Oilers a 15-9 record on the season with a 1-1 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

In game one, senior Megan Demler took the loss after allowing seven runs, only three earned, in 5.1 innings of work. Senior Devyn Zuro scored the Oilers only run when she crossed the plate on a walk by junior Bailey Bates.

In game two, the Oilers trailed 3-0 heading into their final at bat before rallying to force extra innings. Bates came up with a two-run double to get the rally started and later came around to tie the game on a single by sophomore Avery Shepherd. They then scored the game-winner in the tenth inning when senior Kyla Snow drove in freshman Lainey Bingham with a single.

Senior Lexie Hilling picked up the win in the circle for the Oilers after allowing three runs, only two earned, in 10.0 innings of work. She struck out six and walked six.

Shepherd had two hits to pace the offense.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow when they host Wayne State University in a doubleheader starting at 3pm.
