Game 2 Box Score

The University of Findlay softball team swept Walsh University on April 2 in Canton, Ohio. The Oilers won the first game of the doubleheader by a score of 6-4 before winning 13-5 in the second. The wins push the Oilers record to 19-9 on the year with a 3-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

In game one the Oilers and Cavaliers were tied at 4-4 entering the seventh inning. Junior Makayla Cowan then got a rally started for Findlay when she came up with a pinch hit single before advancing to second on a walk by sophomore Meredith Shepherd. Both runners would then advance a base on a wild pitch before Cowan scored the go-ahead run on a lineout by senior Megan Demler. Senior Caroline Turner then plated Shepherd to make the score 6-4.

In the bottom half of the seventh, Demler recorded three straight outs to give Findlay the victory. She ended the game with ten strikeouts in the circle.

Offensively, freshman Brooke Radermacher scored two runs and plated two more with a home run in the second inning. Senior Devyn Zuro went 2-for-4 at the plate while Olivia Carlton went 1-for-3 with two runs batted in.

The Oilers pounded out 17 hits in the second game and were led by senior Lexie Hilling, who went 4-for-4 with two runs batted in. Turner finished 3-for-5 with two RBI's while Radermacher went 2-for-5 with two RBI's as well.

Senior Savannah Harvey blasted a two-run homer and also scored two runs while Shepherd crossed the plate twice and went 2-for-4.

Freshman Emma Jones picked up the win, allowing five runs on five hits in seven innings of work. She also struck out five.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow when they host Ashland University at 1pm.
