Findlay Splits on Second Day of the Music City Invitational

Smyrna, Tenn. – The University of Findlay softball team went 1-1 in Tennessee on Feb. 18. The Oilers fell 5-3 to Davenport in their first game of the year before beating Purdue-Northwest 5-1 in the second. The split gives them a 2-2 record on the season.

Freshman Kora Navarro took the loss against Davenport after allowing four runs, only three earned, in 4.0 innings of work. She struck out five and walked three.

Senior Olivia Carlton led the offense by going 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.

Sophomore Emma Jones picked up the victory against Purdue-Northwest after allowing one run on eight hits in 7.0 innings of action.

Carlton once again paced the offense by going 2-for-3 with a run scored while senior Kaitlynn Briggs went 2-for-4 with a run batted in.

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow when they take on Ferris State to conclude their trip to Tennessee.
