Findlay Splits vs Saint Cloud St. / Glenville St.

Clermont, Fla. - On Friday, March 3, a windy day in Florida, the University of Findlay softball team split a two-game set against St. Cloud State and Glenville State. The Oilers won the opener 3-2 and then dropped the second contest by a score of 8-1. With the split, Findlay is now 11-4 on the season with two games left on their trip south.

In the opener, trailing 1-0, Annika Bredel ripped an RBI triple to tie the game and the next batter, Brooke Radermacher, hit a sacrifice fly to put the Oilers on top 2-1.

Findlay added another run in the sixth on a single by Kaitlinn Briggs, scoring Bredel who had to slide home, knocking the ball out of the glove of St. Cloud State's catcher.

That run was crucial as the Huskies picked one up in the bottom of the sixth. Findlay pitcher Emma Jones worked her way through the rest of the game to pick up the win.

Jones tossed seven innings and allowed two runs, just one earned, on three hits. She struck out eight.

Avery Shepherd had three hits in the leadoff spot to lead Findlay's offense while Bredel had two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI.

In the second game, Findlay took on Glenville Sate. The Oilers did not play their best, making two costly errors in the contest and walking nine batters, leading to multiple runs for the Pioneers.

Alexys Antel took the loss as she tossed 2.1 innings and gave up two runs on two hits. She walked three and struck out two.

The Oilers are back in action tomorrow as they take on Sioux Falls in the morning and wrap up the trip with a game against West Virginia Wesleyan in the afternoon.
