Findlay Stunned by Ohio Dominican | Drop Two

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay softball team hosted the Ohio Dominican University Panthers at Marathon Diamonds for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup, Sunday, March 26. The day was not in favor of the home team as the reigning G-MAC Champions stunned the Oilers winning both contests. With the losses, Findlay falls to 17-8 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. Meanwhile, Ohio Dominican improves to 14–11 and 2-0 in G-MAC play.

Findlay dropped the first game 10-0 in six innings. The Panthers recorded a single run in both the first and third innings but the real trouble struck in the fourth inning for the Oilers. With the score at 2-0, the Panthers captured the momentum, recording five runs in the inning. From there, Ohio Dominican could not be caught as they added three more runs in the sixth inning, bringing the run-rule into effect.

Freshman Kayla Dykin took the loss in the circle as she threw three innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits. She struck out two. Relieving her was senior Molly Pfiffner who also pitched three innings, giving up three runs on six hits. She also struck out two.

In the night cap, the Oilers once again succumbed to the Panthers, taking an 11-4 loss. Findlay had control through five innings as they held a 4-2 lead. The Orange and Black took the board first in the bottom of the third as senior Olivia Carlton hit a homerun to center field, sending senior Avery Shepherd home as well. The Panthers answered back tying the game at 2-2 but Findlay was able to capitalize in the fifth to regain the lead by putting up two more runs. Shepherd hit a single to right center to send sophomore Brooke Radermacher home to take back the lead. Carlton then singled to center field to put what would be the final run on the board for the Oilers.

With the game tied at 4-4, heading into the final inning, the Panthers once again wreaked havoc. They scored seven runs to end the contest- giving Findlay their first conference losses of the season.

Sophomore Emma Jones started in the circle for the Oilers, pitching 5.1 innings. She allowed just four runs on seven hits. She struck out three. Freshman Kora Navarro took the loss, relieving Jones. She allowed seven runs on six hits and walked three.

The Oilers will look to bounce back Friday, March 31 as they host Cedarville starting at 12pm.
