Oilers Set New School Record On Day 2 Of NCAA Championships

The University of Findlay had three swimmers and one diver compete in events on day 2 of the NCAA championships, which took place on Thursday, March 12 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Janko Radmanovic took 22nd place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time just shy of his school record of 49.01.

Jessica Ward took 17th place in the preliminary round of the 100 yard butterfly finishing with a new school record time of 56.15.

Emma Barnes claimed a 13th place finish in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:26.37 to earn All-American honors.  Barnes also finished in 47th place in the preliminary round of the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.64.  Barnes 13th place finish earned her All-American honors in the event.

Ashleigh Weddington took 22nd place on the one meter board with a score of 358.30.

"We had a very good day today, said coach Makepeace. We looked sharp and just missed out on some swims this evening.  Emma had a very grueling double with the IM and 200 freestyle, but really bounced back tonight with a great swim in the 400 IM.  She brought her last hundred freestyle home which is really exciting for tomorrow!  Jess broke her record in the 100 butterfly this morning and narrowly missed out on top 16, it was awesome to watch and I was really hoping she had another shot to break 56 seconds!  I guess we will have to see that next season!  Janko had a tough break in his 100 butterfly, just off his record time.  I think he's hungry for the 200 tomorrow because he identified what needs to be corrected in order to have a peak performance.  I'm pumped to see what's in store for him and our other Oilers tomorrow!"
