Oilers Dominate Dragons and Arrows

Results

Tiffin, Ohio – The University of Findlay men and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Saturday, January 26 against the Tiffin Dragons and the Ursuline Arrows. The Oilers came out on top for both the men and the women against both teams. The men scored 125 points to Ursuline's 0 and then 74 to Tiffin's 63. The women scored 119 to the Arrow's 3, and then 118 to the Dragon's 13.

Men's Results

The men started out the day with a first place win in the 200 yard medley relay with a finishing time of 1:35.76. The relay team consisted of Trae Gulgin, Isaac Stretch, Trent Williams, and Mark Billeaud.

Isaac Stretch took first in the 50 yard breaststroke with a final time of 27.27.

Tyler Adkins scored 188.70 points in the 1 meter diving event to earn a first place win.

Conner Whitaker swam a 49.24 in the 100 yard freestyle race to take first. He also took first in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 24.22.

In the final event of the day for the men, the Oilers finished in first in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.96. The relay team consisted of Trent Williams, Conner Whitaker, Isaac Stretch, and Nathan Bourne.

Women's Results

The women started out the day also taking first in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.87. The relay team consisted of Brette Klopp, Taylor Christensen, Jenna Dasher, and Maria Milner.

Sarah Miles took first in the 1000 yard freestyle race with a final time of 11:20.92. She also took first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.95.

Murphy Vance won the 200 yard freestyle race with a time of 2:04.24.

In the 50 yard backstroke, Olivia Wile took first with a time of 28.63.

Ashton Klopp also took first in a race, claiming the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 32.85.

In the 200 yard butterfly, Katy Kouvaris took first with a finishing time of 2:13.90.

Kristina Coleman won the 50 yard freestyle race with a time of 25.39. She also took first in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.30.

Taylor Verbsky took first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.73.

Chris McFarland took first in two events, the 500 yard freestyle (5:23.31) and the 50 yard butterfly (26.61).

Kendra Polewski was also a winner, taking first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:13.62.

The women finished out the day taking another first place victory. Lauren Blanchard, Taylor Verbsky, Sydney Zimdars, Julia Snell swam the 200 yard freestyle relay and finished with time of 1:47.03.

 

The Oilers will be back again on February 13 in the G-MAC/MEC Championships in Canton, Ohio at 10:00 AM.
